VitaScore provides insider secrets about nutritional supplements so consumers know what’s really safe and effective. By seamlessly educating and informing consumers through our App, we define questionable ingredients and give every product a thumbs up or thumbs down helping our Users to make a better buying decision. From our founding in 2016 to our launch in 2018, we have scored more than 100k products to date and our rapidly expanding product index is on track to reach more than 200K in 2018.
VitaScore is the first App ever to score nutritional supplements based on the presence or absence of questionable ingredients. We all know there are chemical compounds in food and food supplements that we often can’t pronounce and wonder whether they’re safe. VitaScore goes beyond a simple review of a supplement label. User’s can either scan a product’s SKU or simply search for it to receive a simple thumbs up or thumbs down. This is where it gets interesting for the User to delve into the Questionable Ingredient definitions and discover what those chemical terms actually mean. We point out for example the difference between synthetic vs. natural Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Vitamin E. We also expose the fact that many nutritional supplement manufacturers use common sand from the beach as a filler and free flow agent, Magnesium Stearate (which is like Crisco oil) as a filler, Propylene Glycol (the chemical in antifreeze) as a tableting agent and Polyvinylpyrrolidone (used for years as the main ingredient in hairspray) as a disintegrant.
